Member Meeting Update & New Trustee
Heights Water held its annual shareholder meeting on Tuesday, September 22nd. Thanks to everyone who attended! The 2008-2009 financial report was presented (see profit & loss report) as well as an update on what’s happening at Heights Water. Representatives of the North Vashon Water System attended and delivered two letters to the Board of Trustees.
After serving Heights Water as a Trustee for five years, Steve Peck completed his term and truly entered “retirement”! Steve served our members well, always asking “How does this proposed action affect the shareholders?” Thank you, Steve! We all appreciate your service!
Earl Westfall was elected to the Board of Trustees for a three-year term. Earl brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to deal with the issues before the Board. Congratulations and welcome, Earl!
Thanks to all candidates for being available to serve our membership!
Are you ready for winter?
What a beautiful spring and summer we enjoyed! When it’s cold and raining, or snowing, we’ll have to work extra hard to remember how lucky we were. But fall is here and winter will no doubt follow. So the question is “Are you ready for winter?”
Here are some helpful tips:
** If you are concerned that the piping in your water meter box might freeze, you can fill zip lock bags with sawdust or other material for protection. Do not place loose material such as fiberglass insulation, Styrofoam packing material, or clothing in your meter box.
** Inspect the plumbing under your house and insulate any of the hot or cold water lines that are not already insulated. Any pipes that are unprotected from the cold air must be protected. There are options for pipe insulation, so check with your favorite hardware store for your particular situation.
** Do you know where your insulated faucet covers are for your outside hose faucets? Don’t wait until the freezing weather is here to buy some, as the store may just have sold its last one when you need them the most.
** Leaks are harder to spot from now through the spring as the ground is usually wet! Today is the time to check your water meter for movement while you are not using water.
